Parsons is a Sweet Place to Visit

While most of the tourism in the county is situated high on the mountain more and more tourists continue to find their way down the windy mountain roads into the sleepy little town of Parsons. If you rewind the timeline on Parsons, you'll find that just as recently as a few years ago, many Main Street stores were boarded up dilapidated shells of their former selves. A reminder of a once-prosperous town that was nearly wiped out during a major flood in 1985.

In the modern-day, organizations like Parsons Revitalization Organization PRO On/Trac along with local business owners, volunteers, and city officials have taken it upon themselves to renovate, repurpose, and revitalize the downtown area resulting in several new businesses opening and the town once more returning to life. Several of the items you used to have to drive to Elkins for are once more available in our area with a plethora of sweets to choose from being among them.

Businesses like B & J’s Family Diner, Bethany’s Cakes & cupcakes LLC, Crystal's Bakery, The Sunrise Coffee Co., & Mountain Momma's Shaved Ice continue to improve their offerings bringing in sweet treats for locals and tourists alike. Ice cream, cakes, cupcakes, snow cones, specialty drinks, donuts, and of course the staple West Virginia pepperoni roll are all readily available on the growing local menu.

So, the next time you take that trip to the rural mountains of West Virginia to relax with some biking, skiing, kayaking, or mountaineering toss in a stop to another town that is making a comeback in a big way and swing by Parsons.
