The end is nigh.

For many the elections are something to look forward to and for most they mark a time of countless unwanted calls, mailboxes full of junk mail, and constant arguments between otherwise civil friends and family members. Regardless of your feelings towards them the 2018 midterm elections are officially over and in a few moments we'll know who won, who lost, and who never really stood a chance.

Each election I personally look forward to the vote and yet still manage to complain about the amount of calls, mail, and endless "vote for me" signs that inevitably litter the roadsides. I watch the election coverage to see if my candidates won or lost and wake up the next morning refreshed with the knowledge that the calls stop, the mail has vanished, and the signs will soon be gone until another election rolls around.

The election cycle is enough to drive most citizens mad as each year it seems positions are further set in stone and a line is drawn that pits one side firmly against the other in an ugly childlike name calling frenzy that spans the far reaches of every form of media on the planet. You can rest assured as YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and all the other big online firms will once more simmer down to only the usual level of political animosity in the coming days.

I wish all the candidates the best of luck as the results come in and I'd like to say congratulations to those of you who managed to get a win and better luck next time to those who didn't. We all have our favorites and those we're rooting for this election but regardless of who comes out victorious we'll all be here tomorrow and have to once more learn to deal with each other without our boundaries being drawn by red or blue.
