Big Boys and Muddy Toys

One thing that's always plain to see for any country momma is that young boys, mud, and toys go hand in hand so do big boys, mud, and toys for that matter. When they're little they play with Hot Wheels and Tonka trucks and when they get older those toys get a whole lot bigger. I recently took some of the family to the Tucker County Fair Mud Bog and watched as the children got lost in the smell of gasoline, the roar of engines, and the sight of mud flying high. I couldn't blame them because I wasn't far behind them watching as rig after rig hit the mud and powered on.

Now it's an unwritten rule of growing up in the country that if you see mud you have to drive in it, wrestle in it, or throw it at someone else and this rule starts at a very young age. By the time you make it to adulthood you've all but perfected the ear to ear smile that comes from burying a Jeep in the mud and hopefully the job and bank account that keeps it running after. If it's a weekend camping trip or a "short cut" in the woods we'll make any excuse to find a sloppy bit of backroad and find out if we can make it in one side and out of the other and have fun even if we can't.
This year made the first time I've attended the Mud Bog and I have to say it was a very nice event that I look forward to attending for years to come. The Tucker County Fair did a amazing job organizing it and Hillbilly Proud did a great job of recording and uploading it to their YouTube channel for the world to see. The only thing I didn't like is I didn't get to drive and play in the mud this time I did however get some Kiwanis corn dogs so we'll call that a close second.
Since attending my wife and kids have been trying to talk me into building a Jeep to put in the lineup for upcoming years and I've been considering it. For a country boy that West Virginia mud can heal your soul. If you're around Tucker County during the Tucker County Fair don't hesitate to swing by and enjoy the events, livestock shows, food, fun, and more.
